Pick-up at the Hotel and begin our journey to the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. We will make the two hour drive to Fossil Buttes National Monument and explore this very unique visitor center.  Have a brief presentation from the curator.  Enjoy a nice picnic lunch on the grounds and continue along the Green River as we make our way to Pinedale, WY and the home of the Green River Rendezvous.

Fossil Butte is America's Aquarium in Stone.  Some of the world's best preserved fossils are found in the flat-topped ridges of southwestern Wyoming's cold sagebrush desert. Fossilized fishes, insects, plants, reptiles, birds, and mammals are exceptional for their abundance, variety, and detail of preservation. Most remarkable is the story they tell of ancient life in the warm, wet environment in and around a freshwater lake.

Today we will take in everything that the Green River Rendezvous has to offer. We will spend time at the different talks and demonstrations by the American Mountain Men. We will witness the parade through downtown, and take a tour to the

actual rendezvous grounds. This evening we will have dinner at the Pitchfork Fondue, and take in some local rodeo.  Finishing with mountain man stories by the campfire and a street party in downtown Pinedale.

The Green River Rendezvous was an annual event in the 1830s. Mountain Men, Trappers, Travelers and Indians all gathered in a valley "below the Green" river and bartered, traded, sold, and swapped various items such as skins, pelts, guns, jewelry and whatever else they needed.  Modern Rendezvous celebrates the rich history and culture of this annual meeting. This year marks the 85th anniversary of the Green River Rendezvous Festival!

We finish our time with the last events of the Green River Rendezvous including the Pageant.  The Pageant relives the original Green River Rendezvous of the 1800's with a live, historical re-enactment that has been a Pinedale tradition since 1936. The rodeo grounds come alive with bearded, buck skinned trappers and mountain men of long ago as they gallop, holler, fight, boast, and trade and barter goods.

You won't want to miss this rowdy event that takes place against the backdrop of the beautiful Wind River Mountains. Pinedale's dramatization brings together mountain men, American Indians, Father Joseph DeSmet and many others who played a pivotal role here. You'll be telling your own tall tales about this event before long.

After the Pageant we head to Jackson Hole and take an evening drive through Teton National Park and settle in Jackson for the night.  Reservations at the Gunbarrel Restaurant or other reservations and have dinner on your own this evening.

The lighting is very different in the Tetons between mornings and evenings. We will go out for an early morning experience in the Tetons. We will look for wildlife and find the best views, learn the history and explore the stories of this place.

We can have a few hours on our own in the afternoon after lunch and then meet back up for our evening dinner float trip with Triangle X. They will serve dinner and take us on a 10 mile sunset float trip at a beautiful time of day.

We will check out of our hotel in Jackson and head north to Yellowstone. We will spend this day exploring the geyser basins and history of this most famous area in the park. We will see Old Faithful in all it's glory. Tour Old Faithful Inn and

have an optional walk to the Grand Prismatic Overlook. We will finish in West Yellowstone for the evening.  

Dinner will be on your own this evening at one of the many restaurants within an easy walk of the hotel.

Depart West Yellowstone for a day of adventure with more geysers, canyons, wildlife and waterfalls. Visit Norris Geyser basin, The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone and Yellowstone Falls and the wildlife of Hayden Valley. Then head east down

Sylvan Pass for an early afternoon arrival to Cody. That evening enjoy dinner at the Cody Cattle Company and then witness the historic Cody Rodeo. 

Stay at the BW Premier IVY Inn for the night.

After our big night out at the rodeo, have a relaxed morning and check out of our hotel. We begin by going to the Buffalo Bill Center of the West. This is five museums in one. 

This afternoon we will depart Cody and drive the Chief Joseph Scenic Byway. This amazing drive is the route the Nez Perce used to evade the U.S. Calvary for three months.

We will finish up in Silver Gate/Cooke City MT to set us up for a morning wildlife safari through the Lamar Valley.

Rooms are split between Super 8 Cooke City and Antlers Lodge Cooke City.

 We will wake get up as early as possible for our morning wildlife safari.  Our morning game drive through the "American Serengeti" will take us through the Lamar Valley where wolves were re-introduced in the 1990's. This is home to the largest Bison herd in the world. We will make our way over to Mammoth Hot Springs and see the amazing formations of the travertine terraces.

We will then make our way north to Bozeman BW Plus Gran Tree Inn. We will have a farewell dinner at a local restaurant and put a close on this trip of a lifetime!

The next morning breakfast is on your own, the shuttle begins very early to start catching your flights home.
